Lion Tamer Napa Valley
Our cellar door overlooks some of the best spots to grow Cabernet on Mount Veeder. But we’ve found over the years that there are microclimates and certain vineyard sites that are not the right environment for Cabernet.
They are right for Malbec.
The Malbec we grow in Napa forms the backbone of our coveted Cabernet Sauvignon and Red Blend.
Lion Tamer is about finding new ways to capture Napa in a bottle. To ultimately make amazing wine, by and for the next generation.
Lion Tamer Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2019
With 10% Malbec and 5% Petite Sirah, this is a dark, jammy and richly layered red, offering smoked meat, graphite and black olive. Lengthy, it is soft and supple on the palate. — Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast

Tim & Sabrina
Tim and Sabrina Persson, second-generation vintners, created Lions Head Collection in 2012. The Collection is home to Lion Tamer and Panthera wines.
In its first years, the winery was threatened by wildfires and mudslides. In 2014, an earthquake destroyed the cellar, crushing tanks from the inside out.
Tim and Sabrina rebuilt the Lions Head cellar, investing in progressive winemaking technology and in first-class, sustainable vineyard practices that now give life to their wines.
